Subject: Windows KLP (replacement for WLPR Spooler) Release Effort Underway
Cc: infosys@mit.edu, itag@mit.edu
KLP is a replacement for WLPR Spooler and enables Windows machines to print
to most network printers on campus. Specifically, any printer with a LPR
(Line Print Request) or KLPR (Kerberized LPR) print queue such as SAP or
Athena Cluster printers. KLP is the parallel Windows product to KLPR on
the Macintosh.
KLP was developed as part of Project Pismere and can be utilized on any
current version of Windows (9x, ME, NT 4, and 2000).
The KLP Release Team is working to write a customized installer to make it
easier for the community to install and use KLP. We are also working to
publish documentation that will show how to use and configure KLP on your
machine. We expect to release KLP in the second week in March.
If you are interested in helping us test KLP, please contact
klpr-release@mit.edu.
More information on the release is available at http://mit.edu/swrt/klp/.
Thanks,
Jonathan
