This is moot, since we now undivert the files the Right(tm) way.   I suspect the copypasta was a literal copy+paste from c-p-d 4.whatever-was-current-when-it-was-first-written, but the two have now diverged.

I think I still want cpd-maintscript-helper, but the only use cases I can think of for it are because we screwed up in the first place.  "So maybe it's easier to simply not screw up."   Though having a utility or some canonical code snippets to deal with "the upstream conffile we divert got renamed" might be clever.
