The MIT Police Department will be holding Laptop Registrations today,
September 4th, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Johnson Athletic Center.
Laptop Tagging and Registration uses the STOP (Security Tracking of
Office Products) tag. STOP tags are a loss prevention measure and are
a visible deterrent to small electronic devices. Once applied it
takes 24 hours for the glue to cure. Then it takes up to 800 pounds
of pressure to remove the tag. If removed, it leaves a tattoo stating
stolen property. Each item tagged cost $10 cash. Tech Cash is not
accepted.
Laptop Tagging and Registrations happen regularly throughout the
school year. Check the Crime Prevention Unit website for the schedule
and further information.
