Hello,

Next week Monday, July 16 at 1:30 pm in the N42 Demo Center, IS&T is =20
piloting a new course called "Computing Security for Staff."

The course will be 45 minutes long with 15 minutes available at the =20
end for questions. Because this first one is a pilot, we ask that =20
participants stay for another half hour afterwards to discuss =20
feedback about the course.

Course description:

The risk of exposing or losing electronic information in this Age of =20
Information Technology has increased as computer technology has =20
advanced and electronic consumer products have become more widely =20
available. Although we are not all computer experts, there are =20
various simple things we can do when working with computers that will =20=

minimize this risk.

This course will discuss basics on how modifying a few computer =20
settings and making slight changes to your computing behavior in your =20=

every day work life will protect your and MIT=92s electronic =20
information. An overview of which threats are out there will help you =20=

to gain an appreciation for why these few activities are crucial. You =20=

will be able to apply much of this information to using your home =20
computers as well.

What: Computing Security for Staff
Where: N42 Demo Center
When: July 16, 2007 1:30 - 3:00 pm

If you are interested in attending, please respond to Monique Yeaton =20
at myeaton@mit.edu by the end of the day Friday, July 13th. We will =20
take the first 20 interested participants. Snacks and drinks will be =20
supplied.

Thank you,

Monique
