To Members of the MIT Community:

Microsoft has announced another security update for Microsoft Windows
(Microsoft Security Bulletin MS03-039 - 824146) with the potential for
impact similar to that of the Blaster Worm. The Network Security Team
STRONGLY RECOMMENDS you patch your Windows machines as soon as possible from

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/

Once you have patched the operating system, we strongly recommend also
running Office Update from

http://office.microsoft.com/OfficeUpdate/

to improve Office's stability and security and address recently discovered
vulnerabilities in Office.

It is policy to disconnect any machine that has been compromised by a virus
or worm, until it can be formatted and reinstalled with a fresh copy of the
operating system. As many of you unfortunately know, this can be a very
time consuming process. Please help the community by patching your
operating system and software as soon as vulnerabilities are announced.

Thanks,
Linda LeBlanc
