On Thursday, September 3, the MIT Police Crime Prevention Unit is =20
teaming up with IS&T to provide STOP (Security Tracking of Office =20
Property) tagging for laptops and other portable devices used by MIT =20
faculty and staff.
STOP tags are plates that are secured to your device with incredibly =20
strong glue. They include a barcode/tag number that can be recorded =20
into a worldwide tracking system. Your device will be registered upon =20=
receiving a tag. If the tag is removed, the tattoo left behind states =20=
"Stolen Property." To learn more, go to the IT Security Support: Loss =20=

The tag costs $10 and can be purchased with cash or through an MIT =20
account. Just bring along the account information and name(s) to =20
charge it to. If you miss this event, the MIT Police provides the tags =20=

Please note that neither STOP tags nor cables are accepted devices for =20=
MIT insurance waivers.
