It has been suggested that the issues described in Trac #975 are due to a kernel bug serious enough to potentially prevent the release (and thus leave us sticking with Lucid for another year).
Feedback is welcome and encouraged, though confirmation is required to verify that this in fact the issue we're seeing. Possible workarounds include building our own kernel or getting a backport in place, but it's unclear that can happen in bounded time.
