hi,
i just noticed today that red hat dropped support for mpeg layer 1, 2, and
3 files in the version of xmms 1.2.7 that its distro of linux ships with.
this is the same xmms that is on machines running redhat-athena 9.2.10. to
be able to play mp3's again, one must install xmms-mpg123. the source and
binary rpm's are available here:
http://havardk.xmms.org/dist/xmms-1.2.7-rh8-rh9-rpm/
i'd like to see support for mp3's (and hence, shoutcast streams) be
included again in the next athena release if possible.
