Date: Wed, 30 Dec 1998 15:08:39 -0500 (EST) From: Bill Cattey <wdc@MIT.EDU> To: release-team@MIT.EDU, John Hawkinson <jhawk@MIT.EDU> In-Reply-To: <199812301509.KAA01937@contents-vnder-pressvre.mit.edu> John: Thanks for calling our attention to this. I suspect the action we end up taking will follow the same path that similar situations did: We'll add ourselves to the list of parties interested in the patch. We'll watch for people exploiting the problem. If we see outages, we'll throw in a temporary fix. When the patch becomes available, we'll decide, based on the measured impact whether to run it in immediately or to wait until a patch cycle. That's how we handled the last inetd killer situation. Although it would be nice if a patch were already available so that we could just fold it into our current schedule, such is not the case. Let's try not to drive ourselves crazy fooling with the current schedule. -wdc
