I manually updated from 8.1.14 to 8.1.16 yesterday and now my
workstation hangs for about 5 minutes on boot when the zip drive is
attached. I haven't investigated it much (and don't even really need
the drive); all I know is that everything works correctly when the zip
drive is detached and the computer complains about timeout accessing
target device 5 when it is. (Yes, I relize that the timing may be a
coincidence and this may not even be release related.) I know it booted
fine at 8.1.4 when the workstation was moved (1/22/98), but I don't
think it was rebooted since then.
Being way over in N42, I'm inclined to ignore the problem by unplugging
the drive unless someone thinks this could be a release problem and
wants me to do something.
