Any thoughts?: [1906] daemon@ATHENA.MIT.EDU (Chris Shabsin) Athena Software Suggestions 04/24/95 05:51 (21 lines) Subject: lpr command line option? To: suggest@MIT.EDU Reply-To: shabby@MIT.EDU Date: Mon, 24 Apr 1995 05:51:00 EDT From: Chris Shabsin <shabby@MIT.EDU> How about adding a command-line option to lpr to automatically take the printer name it would be printing to (whether it's from hesiod, the PRINTER environment variable, or a -P option) and checking for an existant printer2 queue, and using it if it exists? This could be easily put into LPROPT by users wanting to automatically save paper, rather than requiring kludges like specifying -Pprinter2 on the command line, which will not work as seamlessly, especially since the printer name can acquired by lpr from multiple sources. It'd be a really easy change to make to the code. ----------- -Chris Shabsin -shabby@mit.edu -member, SIPB, PWLCSBHNM, VWA, LSC, LSI, DCNS, MIT OS/2 UG echo Prpv a\'rfg cnf har cvcr | tr A-Za-z N-ZA-Mn-za-m --[1906]--
