In celebration of volume 2 of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya arriving
(finally!), I'll be showing both volume 1 and volume 2 tonight in AiW at
10 p.m. We should be finished somewhere between 1 and 2 a.m. (This is
also my reservation for AiW.)
For those who haven't seen The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, it's an
anime about an energetic girl who's bored of normal life and is on a
quest for something different, new, and exciting, and about those who
are caught up in her antics. Borrowing a little bit from almost all
genres and yet still totally unique itself, it took Japan by storm last
year.
For those who have already seen the fansubs, there are various extra
bits of footage on the DVD versions that didn't make it into the
broadcast and thus the fansubs. Thus, if you're only seen the fansubs so
far, there'll still be something new for you, too.
The current plan is to show the episodes in their DVD (and thus Haruhi)
order. This includes The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina Episode 00, The
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya I-VI, and The Boredom of Haruhi Suzumiya
(baseball!). I guess if there's enough outcry against that I could
switch to showing just the broadcast order DVD that came with volume 2,
containing episodes 1-5 Kyon order.
