Hi Dave,
no, I am not in favor of revamping at this time... these questions have
arisen since trying to incorporate "retipm" into the existing model... I
do believe, either the web pages will change or another "tweak" in the
process, so, we know...
** how to associate existing network printers w/athena print queues
and print queues associated with IPM
(there were several questions Jonathan Weiss had to address while
setting up RETIPM and RETIPM2... several people expressed setting up
RETIPM took some time... having the information in advance will ensure a
faster turnaround...)
** once they are created in MOIRA, how will R/3 be informed, how will
IPM be informed or will IPM inform MOIRA?
(today, moira delivers a file to windsurf and from windsurf the
R/3 printcaps are updated)
** once the printcaps have been distributed, e-mail is sent and the
output devices are created in R/3; once the output devices have been
tested, successfully, they are propagated to the remaining R/3 environments...
Since it is my understanding that we wish to be integrated with MOIRA, I
believe, the questions need to be addressed and are not dependent on
central vs decentral. Hopefully, I have clarified (from my perspective)
why I believe, the existing process needs to be considered.
Thanks,
Theresa
p.s. for now, I agree.. no need to extend invites to BLT or HD; however,
I do wonder if someone from Jonathan's group would be helpful... I will
leave that question for Rockyln...
