Hi Rachel,
We on the print delivery team are trying to deal with and or understand a
couple of accounting issues associated with printing.
There are a couple of potential situations that we were have been looking
at and wondered how the accounting related to similar situations on the
mainframe are handled.
In IPM when a file that is printing is interrupted by a paper jam, out of
paper or operator intervention, the file restarts at the beginning and the
accounting reflects the total page count for pages printed (actually clicks
but for this discussion lets just call them pages). Is there an indicator
on the accounting record from the mainframe for restart or reprint of part
of the file? In other words what are we doing now in a situation like this?
Also do the accounting records being cut on the mainframe include
simplex/duplex indicator and number of copies, not just total number of
pages printed? And if so did we do something to customize the accounting exit?
At the moment we are getting bare bones accounting records and sometime in
the future we will be trying to work with IBM to get better accounting out
of IPM, and as part of that we were hoping to have information for what the
accounting for printing we are using on the mainframe has for comparison.
Any and all information you can provide will be extremely helpful.
