Ops & ASST,
Since we are getting closer to the rollout of the new InfoPrint Manager
printing service, I thought you might find it useful to see the most
recent project activity report. Holler if you have questions or concerns.

Accomplishments for the past period:
- ordered and received IPM software
- finalized H/W configuration with ASST and ordered equipment
- secured installation consultant from IBM
- continued work on the new service Business Model
- debugged SAP printing to IPM; installed new IPM queue name in SAP SF2
- identified & secured a Mac client developer resource (Jeff Harrington)
- received sample Windows Port Monitor software to test; requested an NT &
Win2000 patch to complete a successful install; successfully installed
Select & Submit client 3.2 on Win2000; tested Admin client install
on Win2000
- held two IPM demos with follow up discussion with Theresa re
administrative printing
- researched and answered questions raised at FSS checkin;
discussed General Ledger preparations with some FSS staffers;
provided FSS with detailed IPM documentation as requested
- met with the Software Release Team
- discussed anticipated secure printing needs with Peter and Rachel
- held several discussions with Athena staff for incorporating IPM
into MIT's printing infrastructure
- created descriptions for IPM components; available in the project notebook
- completed first & second draft of a detailed phased rollout plan
- completed first draft of a service & support plan
- updated WBS & timeline
- worked with DOST & Anger to identify defunct forms
- began site prep work with DOST assistance for H/W installation
Goals for the coming period:
- receive and install the production & backup server H/W with DOST
and ASST assistance
- present a project update at the 9/12 OCMG
- define the initial queue names
- work with DOST to shift more print load from W91 3827 to E19 3160
- install & test a successful Port Monitor for NT & 2000
- organize documentation of the Business Plan for IPM
- review & update detailed phased rollout plan
- continue prep work for installing IPM server & client code
- further update Enterprise Printing WBS
- finalize preparations for work on web interface
- finalize preparations for work on "port monitor"
- research & respond to questions from R3-Admin and additional
questions from Rosenberg
- finalize schedule for IPM installation
- hold more formal discussion with FSS & CAO re our readiness for
printing the Postscript version of the Monthly GL Statements
- work with ITIT to "ratify" the proposed security position paper

Issues:
As noted in our prior report, we missed our target for handling large
volume Postscript printing on 9/1. The team is working with FSS & CAO
to deal with this shift in the schedule.

The team accomplished a great deal while the project leader was
vacationing for three weeks (the reason for the delay in sending
this report).
