Hey there folks,

Some info you might be interested in.
Last Friday Steve Dimond and I sent out an RFP to 4 companies (DANKA, OCE,
Heidelberg,& Xerox) for a replacement for our Networked Docutech 135. I
have had a few conversations with Phil Muolo from IBM and initially Steve
and I agreed that since we were soliciting proposals from DANKA &
Heidelberg for essentially the same box we were not going to ask IBM for a
gander at the Info Print 2000 which without IBM's front end is the same as
the other two. I was kind of on the fence about this cause I think the
more options the better. After talking to Phil on Monday I decided to look
at a proposal from him as well. We have requested the proposals be
submitted to me by 6/12. Steve Dimond is on vacation and we will not be
making any decisions til he gets back (6/19) but I'll fill you in when we
decide.

We have had a long history with DANKA in considerations for replacing the
Docutech (they along with OCE cordinated the front end solution we have
purchased from ALTO Imaging) not to mention our somewhat shakey
relationship with Xerox. I'm expecting that the IBM solution will be
pricey, well, I should say more pricey considering what these things go for.

If anyone would like to take a look at this ALTO front end let me know and
I'll make arangements for you to get a demo in our copy center in building
11.

Kip
