The following is a general update on my to do's from our last mtg:
1. IPM 3.2 does support a 6400 in IPDS mode attached to the Ethernet lan.
This printer would be the lan attached replacement printer for channel
attached line printers in use today at MIT.
2. 7044-270 will be the hardware IBM will propose for MIT's IPM server. A
configuration is being generated today.
3. RAID dasd is avail on 7044-270, but dual power is not! The MIT
proposal will have RAID configured for internal Ultra SCSI dasd. Faster
external SSA dasd is also available for growth and is RAID capable as well.
A 21" monitor will also be configured.
4. Availability of a IP60 is 7-10 days. Availability of software is 2 days
when expedited. Availability of a 7044-270 is 2 weeks.
5. Pricing of the software is going through special bid process. I expect
an answer today or tomorrow.
6. Special License agreements are not required to be signed for purchase of
IPM software. Phil Muolo got back directly to David L. with that response.
