When you read the fine print the ipds is black and white only.

Card for IPDS™ and SCS/TNe — This card provides Advanced Function 
Presentation™/Intelligent Printer Data
                           Stream™ (AFP™/IPDS) and SNA Character Set (SCS) 
data stream support for IBM mainframe
                           and IBM iSeries computers. It supports 
monochrome printing only.

The other question that comes to mind is how "robust" is this printer, are 
we talking 30 ppm or better?
