Discussion points for the 5/26/2000 Print Delivery meeting
1) Installation of new PSF/VM release when GA
Desired Outcomes:
- buy-in and commitment to install the new release of PSF/VM when
it's GA (not the beta release)
- identification of installation staffing resources
Project & Operational Benefits:
- helps with the plans to eliminate the E19 channel extension
- easier sharing of 3160(s) between VM & IPM
- could drive the E19 3160 from Comdisco's hotsite reducing
hotsite costs and providing improved business continuity services
- could potentially save purchase and maintenance costs associated
with the channel adapter on the second 3160 (timing issue)
2) IPM Support
Desired Outcomes:
- identify team & staff to support IPM
- move I/T Service forward on resolving the issue of the
organizational model for supporting administrative and "system"
applications
Project & Operational Benefits:
- agreement on the future support of IPM
3) 3827 to 3160 Migration
Desired Outcomes:
- agreement the migration will occur
- agreement on the funding source
- agreement on the timeframe
- agreement on the staff resources to be used
Project & Operational Benefits:
- significant cost savings
- full redundancy between W91 and E19
- encourages the completion of the forms conversion work which
will allow us to fulfill our current business continuity
commitments
- aligns with a project goal to ease the transition of printing
from the legacy environment to the new services by sharing
print engines
- the 3160 is better sized for the current workload
4) AIX & Server Support
Desired Outcomes:
- clarify remaining service requirements including a quick
run through of ASST's SLA list
(see: http://windsurf.mit.edu/ASOP/whats_it_buy.html)
- obtain agreement to support AIX
5) Rollout
Desired Outcomes:
- clearer and broader understanding of the rollout plans and schedule
7/1 Target Date (some are a stretch)
- complete business plan (startup funding, ongoing funding, cost
allocation, support plan, service plan, disaster recovery plan)
- IPM up & running
- E19 HP8100 managed by IPM
Post 7/1
- move GL monthly statements to Postscript & IPM
- resolve secured access method
- resolve desktop access method
- evaluate moving the SAP desktop printers to IPM from APS
- use the 3160(s) by IPM
- review options for moving to network attached impact printers
- resolve the move to MICR based check printing (probably part
of Payroll Delivery)
Notes will not be included in the email to RAR, Karen, etc...
Notes: - Rocklyn will address the people "backup" issue
- Lynne to mention "other" resources as needed (aka Art)
- review Pete's SLA list at the following URL before the meeting
