i've gotten this email (which closes with "Send this e-mail to
EVERYONE on your list, and tell all your friends and relatives to
write to their Congressman and say "No!" to Bill 602P.") probably a
dozen times over the past few years.  a minute's research into a
single referenced fact shows it false.

1. the washingtonian doesn't even have a march 6th, 1999 issue
2. there is no bill 602p.
3. the front page of the www.usps.gov has a permanent notice about the
email.
4. congressman schnell of arizona doesn't exist
5. the vote is scheduled for "within two weeks"

although i must say that emails like these are compelling arguments
for some kind of email tax.
