Tuesday - TOMORROW - 6:30 - Harvard Yard - Phillips Brooks House
Solidarity Summer Workshop! Recruitment, Organization Building, and
Strategy - Concrete Skills for Student Activists -
Speakers: Laura and Treston- National SLAP staff
Laura and Treston are flying up from the National Jobs with Justice Office
in Washington DC to bring us all skills we need to continue are struggles
in Boston. They are both experienced student activists, national
coordinators of student-labor activism, and trained workshop facilitators.
The training they are going to give us is usually part of a complete
weekend of workshops called a "GROW" or "GrassRoots Organizing
Weekend." I've heard great things about these weekend trainings, but they
are usually really expensive to bring to your campus. We get this one
workshop-free of charge- don't miss it!
We'll also share information about a planned action in support of the
nurses strike! call Jane at Jobs with Justice (617) 524-878 or reply to
this e-mail for more information.

Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC), that it is time to sit down and
negotiate a first contract. Joyce Strom - who has refused to begin
contract negotiations despite a 4-1 vote in support of Local 509 will be
attending the Child Welfare League Conference at the Sheraton in Danvers.
Union activists and supporters plan to be on hand to tell child advocates
exactly what Strom and the MSPCC board are doing to their employees. For

SLAP coordinating meeting!
The Student Labor Action Project will be having a pre-fall semester
planning meeting to discuss how to coordinate our activism on and off
campus this fall. We will be discussing how to maintain solidarity and
strategy without meeting all the time this fall! Come hear about what
other schools are planning to do, talk about mobilization for September
30th, and get support for your organizing from other student
activists! For more information or a draft agenda reply to this e-mail or
call Jane at JwJ (617)-524-8778.

possible action in support of the Brockton Nurses Strike
Dates and time TBA - The Nurses have been on strike all summer, and the
