Announcing: Solidarity Summer 2001
To connect YOU and youth activists all over Boston to:
*local struggles
*training from experienced activists
*youth actions
Bringing you political education workshops, skills trainings, and
solidarity actions throughout the summer. Your input is needed! Come to the
first action and workshop to help plan the summer and share your ideas.
Kick-off ACTION! Support Striking Janitors in Baltimore!
Predominantly African American janitors working in buildings owned by
Boston Properties in Baltimore making poverty level wages, with no full
time work or benefits are trying to unionize. Boston Properties in based in
our community, let's tell them to support workers rights!
Meet in Harvard Square at 4:20 pm, Wednesday (TOMORROW), June 27
Kick-off WORKSHOP! Building Student-Labor Coalitions
Case study #1: The Emerson Underground Youth Movement
How students helped bring together part-time faculty into a union
Case study #2; the Harvard Living Wage Campaign
How students, unions, and workers took on the richest university in the
world! newly released sit-in video will be screened!
Come talk to workers, students, and faculty about coalition building-
what works and what doesn't.
