Meeting: Sunday, February 20, 1400 for
Wednesday, March 8; International Women's Day
Hi everyone! The meeting was great! We got a lot of concrete ideas out on
the table. We split up a few responsibilities and plan on meeting again:
this Tuesday
8:00 p.m.
the coffeehouse
We're going to see what kind of promotional space we can get,
plus make up some fliers before the meeting so that people can take
them home and get the word around.
If you didn't come to the last meeting, it would be great to have
your presence at this one. The more the merrier!
Below are the minutes of today's meeting:
Reservations Possibilities:
lobby 10, 7;
student center, student center steps;
drop poster space; LSC slide;
Lobdell, Bush, 1-390
Celebration/Activism Combination:
two-day? activism, then celebration;
booth more celebration oriented; talk that night? the night prior?
take back the night rally: not enough advanced planning, weather problems;
for celebration part-handing out tiny gifts (candy or something) to women
passing by as congratulations in lobby 10?
Tabling:
table with info sheets, multiple tables;
striking display, collection of tables, music, posters;
international women's problems, array of issues;
(Amnesty) distribute mesh people can wear in support of women;
SOS booth concentrating on rape as evolution/violence;
fight oppression against women! (Social Justice)
Evening Talk:
speaker, professor, sexism report from Science department;
international human rights and women's issues?
Nancy Hopkins, women from report, bring out controversy involved;
audience participation for half the night;
break down into smaller group, get people talking about MIT problems;
strong moderator, small group discussion leaders needed
Future Meeting:
poster making/distribution: (intro posters, talk title, etc.)
funding? women's studies department? split amongst groups.
(Social Justice) "I'll be a post-feminist in the post-patriarchy" shirts
