RALLY TO SUPPORT NORTHEASTERN STUDENTS WHO HAVE OCCUPIED
THE JOHN D. O'BRYANT AFRICAN AMERICAN INSTITUTE FOR 26
DAYS TO SAVE THE BUILDING FROM DEMOLITION
THE ADMINISTRATION WILL MAKE ITS DECISION ON THURSDAY, 10. MAY. COME OUT
TO LET THEM KNOW WE WILL RESIST THEIR ATTEMPTS TO MOVE US TO THE BACK OF
THE BUS AGAIN.
WHEN: WED. 5/9 4:00 p.m.
WHERE: NORTHEASTERN, AT THE AFRICAN AMERICAN INSTITUTE
40 LEON ST.-RUGGLES T STOP "ORANGE" LINE
The building was erected after the assassination of MLK to quiet Black
students on campus. Initially the building was back in the campus, but
due to campus expansion it is now at the center of campus. The
administration wants to demolish the building and condense the Institute
onto one floor of a building at the end of campus. Currently the
Institute has a whole building devoted to it which consists of a library
devoted to African American literature and is a focal point for the
surrounding Black community
