Earth Week is upon us, and that means it's time to celebrate. Throughout MIT and the Boston Area, people of all ages are joining together to marvel and enjoy the beauty of the world around us and to raise awareness about the need to protect our mighty yet fragile planet.
We at SAVE have several different activities planned, and we sincerely hope that you will join us for them. They promise to be a little bit of work, but a lot of fun, so please, if you have a few free hours during this week, participate in the celebration of Earth Week and Earth Day.
Thank you for your support, because it is crucial at this juncture that we gather together and express our appreciation for the world around us.

Other fun events:
Earth Day booth at the student center steps: come find out about Earth Week and why it's so cool. We're going to be at the Student Center Steps all day from Wednesday through Friday with music and brochures.
Charles River Cleanup: On Saturday, April 21, we will be meeting at 10 am at the Student Center Steps to clean up the Charles River. Last year it was a lot of fun, and this year it will be even more fun. We're going to have a boat and we'll go out on the river with some nets ... free t-shirts and food and a chance to pat yourself on the back.
Earth Day Field Trip: On Sunday, April 22, we will be meeting at the student center steps again at noon, but this time to walk around and enjoy the sights of Boston. The T will be FREE on Sunday, so we plan on going to the Esplanade to check out the FREE concert there and if it's nice, we'll go to Revere Beach and/or the Arnold Arboretum to check out a diverse wildlife collection.
Marine Biodiversity Talk: On Tuesday, April 24 in 3-133, Professor Callum Roberts of Harvard University will be giving a talk on marine biodiversity and marine reserves and parks. Come and learn about life in the seas.
Also, throughout the week, the Environmental Programs Task Force, which has done some amazing things to help make the campus more environmentally-friendly, will be having a booth in Lobby 10. Feel free to stop on by to get information about recycling and talk to the people who were largely responsible for the expanded recycling efforts at MIT.
Please join us for as many events as you can. We look forward to seeing you and once again, Happy Earth Week! But above all, use this week to reflect upon how you individually impact your environment. You'd be surprised that sometimes the little things add up and have a tremendous impact on the world around you.
