Conference on Oppression in Prisons
2 PM to 5 PM
Boston University
College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), Rm 222
725 Commonwealth Avenue (BU Central T stop)
The focus of this afternoon will be on the lack of educational
opportunities in prisons, including the censorship of materials
and the use of control units to target politically active
prisoners as well as Black and Latino prisoners in general.
Speakers include:
Safiya Bukhari of the Jericho Movement
Eddie Ellis of the Community Justice Center in NYC
and local activists
The panel discussion will be followed by a reception (in room CAS 214)
at which we will be displaying artwork and poetry of prisoners with
whom we work with.
