Global Action Network, coordinating the protest against the WTO and a
part of the upcoming protest against unchecked genetically modified
foods, is coming to MIT to organize a cross-campus, Boston-wide, student
activist network. If you've ever wondered what you can do to make some
positive changes in an unjust world, please come to learn more and help
shape the movement! See you there,

Felix

Subject: 2/13 Student Activist Network meeting

Hi all,

In an effort to provide the space for student activists in the greater
Boston-area (and beyond) to come together and talk about forming a
cross-campus network, there will be a meeting THIS SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 13 @ 6:00
AT MIT (KENDALL SQ/MIT T, RED LINE) IN ROOM 6-120. Called by some student
activists and members of the new Boston Global Action Network (built from a
coaltion of groups organizing against the WTO and continuing to work
together), this meeting is an attempt to begin talking about how we can work
together to build an effective, powerful network of student activists on the
many campuses of Boston and Massachusetts. For all the activism going on,
there should be a network - to foster solidarity and support, and to continue
to educate, agitate, and organize!

Let's talk about what the common goals are, how we can go about reaching
them, and have some fun while we're at it! If you can't attend, but would
still like to be a part of this effort, send us a list of the student
organizations and contacts from your campus - this way you can find out when
and where actions are going down, how you can lend support, as well as find
that support for your own actions.

Here's a proposed agenda:

Suggested time: 2 hrs
Cassie Watters, GAN, facilitator

1. Cassie Watters- Welcome
Introductions (10 minutes)

2. Chris McCallum, BU: Need for a cross-campus network in Boston and possibly
MA-area (5 min.)

3. How do we create this?
As an important and powerful part of any movement, students were invited here
today - to create a working network.
    a) Phil LaRochelle, MIT: Recap of last Friday's campus outreach meeting
(5 min.)
    b) Brainstorm on networking (10 min.)
    c) Discussion (15 min.)

4. Establish workplan - divide roles

5. Next meeting, Announcements

Also: There will be people from the Global Action Network to give info on
actions this spring and how you can mobilize, as well as a USAS (United
Students Against Sweatshops) organizer from DC, Smriti Rana, to talk about
mobilizing for April 16 in DC against the International Monetary Fund and
World Bank.

Look forward to seeing you there!

In solidarity,
Cassie F. Watters
