REGULO MADERO, president of CREDHOS, a Colombian human rights organization
CARLOS PALACIOS, former priest; organizer of the Putumayo Project of Peaceful
Coexistence

This tour has been organized by the Colombia Human Rights Network and
the US/Colombia Coordinating office to promote peace and human rights
in Colombia through non-violent means. It is co-sponsored by Colombia
Vive, MIT/Harvard Amnesty International, MIT Social Justice
Cooperative.

REGULO MADERO, the president of CREDHOS, a human rights
organization, will discuss the the history and current situation in
Barrancabermeja, a city in Colombia's main oil production region in
the Magdalena Medio, one of Colombia's most violent regions. He will
also discuss his difficult and dangerous work of defending human
rights in this context.
CARLOS PALACIOS, a former priest and current organizer of the Putumayo
Project of Peaceful Coexistence, will address the impact of
U.S. fumigation on human rights and the grassroots struggle for peace
in the Putumayo department, the area where U.S.-backed
counternarcotics offensives began late last year.
Directions to Building 2, room 105, MIT:
From the main entrance to MIT (77 Massachusetts Ave): follow the steps up
from Mass Ave, through the main lobby, into the long hallway (the so-called
"Infinite Corridor"). About three-quarters of the way down the corridor,
there will be a sign for Buildings 4 and 2 off to the right. Turn onto this
hallway and take it to the end. Turning the corner on the left will be
Bldg. 2, rm. 105 (the classroom is labeled 2-105).
From the MBTA Red Line (Kendall/MIT stop): After getting off the T, take
Main Street west (away from the river) for two blocks and make a left onto
Ames Street. Turn right onto the main MIT campus after passing the
wedge-shaped building. Follow the walkway down to the far side of the
courtyard. In the center of the row of buildings will be an entrance onto
the Infinite Corridor. Follow the corridor a short way until you see a sign
for Bldg. 4 and 2 pointing to the left. Turn onto this hallway, follow it
to the end, and turning the corner on the left will be Bldg. 2, rm. 105
(the classroom is labeled 2-105.)
