DIRECT DEMOCRACY, NOT ELECTION HYPOCRISY
From the conventions to the debates, this year has seen a unprecedented
level of resistance to the two party system's elections. Please join us
in
extending this resistance to Election Day as Boston joins over a dozen
other cities in taking creative action for direct democracy, not
electoral
hypocrisy.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
WED NOV 1: 7 p.m. potluck at Spontaneous Celebrations to discuss
victory celebration (45 Danforth Street, Stoneybrook T
stop, Orange Line)
SUN NOV 5: Noon-3pm Art and Puppet making for election day
3pm: Planning get together- we need help to make it happen.
4pm-6pm: Street Theater Rehearsal-- everyone needed make this awesome
theater pageant happen.

TUES. NOV. 7 ELECTION DAY
We are acting this Election Day to create a real public debate about
who
should make decisions on the issues and resources that effect our
communities; unaccountable politicians and corporations or the people
in
our communities. Let's expose the undemocratic, corporate-controlled
elections that mask a system that is destroying our communities, our
environment and our freedom, and celebrate directly democratic
alternatives.
TALK:
ALL DAY: Join us giving out flyers, talking to our neighbors and
performing street theater at polling and public spaces throughout
Boston.

ACT: PROCESSION
6PM: PARK ST. STATION, BOSTON COMMON Tour of Shame and Reclamation- A
colorful procession of people and puppets will visit sites of the
Democrat
and Republican parties to voice our outrage at their mockery of
democracy
and visit places where the community has reclaimed power from the
system,
where the vision of a
directly democratic society is at work in reality.
CELEBRATE:
8PM-MIDNIGHT- PEOPLE'S VICTORY CELEBRATION, SPONTANEOUS CELEBRATIONS,
Jamaica Plain
David Rovics, street theater, music, word, dancing and food. Celebrate
our
grassroots movements victory in exposing the sham election in Phillie
and
LA, at the Debates and on Election Day. Celebrate community groups and
struggles that have taken back power from politicians and corporations.
We
can't let the Republicrats have all the fun, besides everyone knows we
throw a better party!!! Free, All ages, No alcohol, donations gladly
accepted. Spontaneous Celebrations is located at 45 Danforth St. in
Jamaica

Voting every two or four years between unaccountable, pre-selected
politicians is not democracy. Even without the influence of wealthy
corporations, even with campaign finance reform, even with third
parties or
well-meaning political candidates, the US political system isn't
capable of
being genuinely democratic. It will not give us the power to better our
communities or our lives.
The list of problems in our lives not addressed by our current system
goes
on and on;
Poverty and cuts in welfare, healthcare, education, public
transportation
and social services while the rich get richer; police brutality, racism
and
corruption; repression of grassroots activism; locking up of more and
more
youth; gentrification of our neighborhoods; skyrocketing rents and
harassment of homeless people; political prisoners -- like Mumia Abu
Jamal
l-- and the death penalty; poisoning of our air and water and killing
of our
forests; low wages, lousy, meaningless jobs, sweatshops and union
busting;
the World Trade Organization, International Monetary Fund, and World
Bank
forcing poverty, misery and environmental destruction around the globe
for
corporate profits.
These problems are all rooted in the same undemocratic political and
economic system, controlled by big corporations, that hides behind
staged
political elections. We want real, direct democracy that gives everyone
power over the decisions and resources that matter in our
neighborhoods,
towns, schools, and workplaces It's time we came together to stand up
to
this system
and create directly democratic positive alternatives! A new world is
possible and we are part of a global movement that is rising up to make
it
happen. Join us.
