My name is Jinee lokaneeta. I teach in a College-Kirorimal College in Delhi
University, Delhi , India. Currently, I am a PhD student in the U.S. My
husband Sanjay kumar Mishra (32 years old) has hepatitis B and needs a liver
transplant - the estimated cost of which is 200,000 US dollars .
Sanjay and I have been a part of the left and democratic movements in=

Sanjay Kumar Mishra =96 researcher, journalist and activist is urgently in=
need
of a liver transplant
Sanjay is 32 years old. He has Hepatitis B and decompensated Cirrhosis of=
the
Liver. He has been advised a liver transplant as soon as possible.
Liver Transplant needed urgently
In May 1999 Sanjay was detected for Cirrhosis of Liver and was under=
treatment
of Dr.S.K.Acharya at AIIMS,New Delhi.Sanjay accompanied his wife Jinee
Lokaneeta, who got a fellowship to do her PhD at the University of Southern
California, Los Angeles, in August 2000. He was to apply for a PhD in
Psychology in the next term when he learnt of the shocking diagnosis by Dr.
Jacob Korula, Liver specialist at the USC Hospital and Director,Transplant
Hepatology, that he has Decompensated Cirrhosis with Hepatitis B and needs a
liver transplantation urgently. The cost of the transplantation is 200,000=
US
dollars.
Sanjay-an activist
Sanjay Kumar Mishra is from Sasaram ,Bihar.He was involved in the student
movemnt in Gaya during his school days. He is a familiar name in the left=
and
democratic circles in Delhi, India. He was the Convenor of Disha- a=
political
and cultural organisation of Delhi from 1988-1993.
He then became the Founding President of Progressive Students Union(PSU)- a
prominent student left group of Delhi Universty and was the President of the
PSU from 1993-1997.
Sanjay has been a prominent part of most campaigns in Delhi University and=
in
Delhi whether it was the Mandal agitation where he was one of the few pro
reservationists, the Forum against Communalism and relief after Latur
earthquake. Sanjay was also one of the Convenors of the Marx Club in Delhi
University-a forum for discussion.
In recent years he has been a part of Delhi Janwadi Adhikar Manch- a forum=
for
labour rights formed in the wake of a supreme courts decision relocating the
=93polluting industries=94of Delhi and Parmanu Bam Virodhi Abhiyan(pbva)=
formed in
the aftermath of the nuclear blasts.
His wife Jinee lokaneeta has also been a part of the left and feminist
movement
in Delhi. She was a part of PSU, Gender Studies group and Forum Against=
Sexual
Harassment, Delhi University.
Sanjay=92s Father in law,Prof. Manoranjan Mohanty, is an active part of the=
Left
and democratic movements in India.
Friends, Activists, relatives and all those in India who have seen Sanjay=
over
the years as a sensitive and wonderful human being, are shocked at the=
tragedy
that has befallen him and are doing their best to help. But the cost of
transplantation is 200,000 US dollars and we cannot do it without the=
support
of the well-wishers and the humanitarians in the overseas.
Sanjay- a psychologist and researcher
Sanjay completed his formal education from the Psychology department in=
Delhi
University, Delhi, India. He worked as a Counselor at National Association
for
the Blind (NAB)-where he had worked with visually handicapped children=
helping
them and their parents to relate to life and themselves. Currently he
works as
a freelance journalist, writing on human rights and labor issues. His work
has
been published in leading Indian newspapers and magazines.
