Friends,

MIT Student Pugwash is working to encourage critical thinking on social and
ethical responsibility in science and engineering at MIT. If you share our
concerns and interests, or if you just want to know what a "Pugwash" is,
please bring your ideas and enthusiasm to our next meeting:

Mon 10/16/00, 4:30 pm
Room 10-280
** Food & Drinks provided **

Here we will read & discuss the Russell-Einstein Manifesto and / or J.
Rotblat's acceptance speech (on behalf of Pugwash) for the Nobel Prize.
This will cover some history of Pugwash and should give a good starting
point for discussion of ethical issues in science and what we can do at MIT
this year.

Copies will be available at the meeting, but for those of you who may want
to read ahead, these documents can be found online at:

http://www.pugwash.org/about/manifesto.htm and
http://www.pugwash.org/award/Rotblatnobel.htm.

(while there you can check out the Pugwash web site)

Hope to see you all there!!!

Cheers,

Jason
