Please do what you can to demand fair and safe treatment of
people arrested for demonstrating. The police were well behaved
when the cameras were on them... their rep says that can't
be trusted behind close doors!

Subject: [R2D2] EMERGENCY :: Call Philly PD
Please call the Philadelphia Police Complaint Line,
215-686-3991, to demand the release of over 400 people
arrested in yesterday's demonstration against the
prison-industrial complex, some of them Bostonians.
According to the Philadelphia Independent Media Center
(www.phillyimc.org):
"PDAG legal reports that 450 activists were arrested today. 425
are being kept at the Roundhouse Philadelphia Prison. 25 are
being kept separately at Holmesburg Prison on Northeast
Philadelphia. Activists being detained at the Roundhouse are
engaging in a hunger strike, and are demanding equal
treatment, that the charges against them be dropped, and
immediate release. There are numerous reports of ongoing
police brutality...."
PDAG is Philadelphia Direct Action Group.
Philadelphia police also raided and closed a puppet-making
workshop
yesterday, initially without a warrant. All 70 people inside were
arrested.
