Dear Fellow activists and people of conscience,

Many of you have heard about the case of Amer Jubran who is facing
deportation due to his very clear and strong political voice in
our community. It is crucial that we remind our government that
the US constitution does not allow for politically motivated
targeting. In addition, we have recently learned that the key
witness and her family members have been visited and harassed by the
government law enforcement officials in an apparent attempt to intimidate
her from testifying at his deportation hearing. One family member of
the main witness was actually detained and interrogated for the better
part of a day. Please help us send a clear message that we will not be
silent in the face of such corrupt and anti-democratic behavior as
the government has exhibited in this case from the very start. And
please fwd this announcement widely!

In hope,
		Aimee

7/17 Noon Picket/Rally at INS/Defend Amer Jubran and Political Rights!

Defend Civil Liberties
Protest the Department of Homeland Security
Defend Amer Jubran!!!

Only one week left to stop the attempted deportation of Amer Jubran on
July 24th!

Picket/Rally at Noon
Thursday, 7/17/03
JFK Federal Building
Government Center, Boston

We need you on Thursday, July 17 to help defend Palestinian activist
Amer Jubran against government attempts to silence him through political
arrest, detention, and now an attempted deportation through proceedings
on July 24th. Amer's only "crime" has been to exercise his right to
freedom of speech and to express support for Palestine in the new age of
the Patriot Act. The attack on Amer Jubran is an attack on us all!

Despite eight months of letters, faxes, phone calls, and office visits
protesting these proceedings against Amer Jubran, the INS (now, Bureau
of Immigration and Customs Enforcement) is still trying to execute the
deportation. On July 17, all those concerned about civil liberties
should gather to send a message to the Department of Homeland Security
that activists in Boston will not be silenced. We need to demonstrate to
Tom Ridge in Washington and the Office of Detention/Removals in Boston
that political repression won't go unchallenged. Join activists from all
over the world in an international campaign to defend Amer Jubran and
the political rights of all. Delegations will be visiting U.S. embassies
around the world on July 17 demanding that the U.S. government halt
these attacks against political activists.

Please join us on July 17th at Noon at the JFK Federal Building in
Boston, by the Government Center T stop on the Green Line.
