This is a real easy one. Just a few clicks to send faxes to your elected
officials.

FCC Appointees Ignored the Public Outcry

But Congress May Undo the Damage

To send a fax (text below) to each of your Senators*, urging them not
to allow giant media corporations to gobble up even more of our radio
and television stations and newspapers just click this link and then
follow the instructions.

A few weeks ago, we asked you to send emails to the five
commissioners at the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) asking
them not to allow giant media conglomerates to control even more of
the airwaves and newspapers. Members like you were part of the
largest public outcry in the history of the FCC with commissioners
receiving hundreds of thousands of messages opposing the plan. But
these political appointees voted three to two along party lines to
allow the corporate giants to control even more of what you see and
hear.

Members of Congress are now considering ways to overturn the FCC's
decision. The Senate is moving first with a meeting of the Commerce
Committee on June 19 to discuss the problem. We need to encourage
every member of the Senate to tell members of the committee to put
out a strong bill to overturn the FCC's vote.

Tell your Senators to overturn the FCC's bad decision. Just click on
the link below.

Jerry's, which is not associated with the TrueMajority campaign.

Here is the letter we will send to your Senators:

Dear Senator:

I was very disappointed on June 2 when the FCC rolled back rules
governing media ownership that were meant to increase the
opportunities for citizens to get fair and balanced information.
Although the FCC received hundreds of thousands of comments from
people objecting to the new rules allowing media cross-ownership, the
appointees chose to ignore the public in favor of media moguls.

I am asking you, as my Senator, to support legislation offered in the
Commerce Committee this week that reverses a number of the new FCC
rules. I would also like you to support the amendment sponsored by
Senators Dorgan and Snowe that reinstates newspaper/broadcast cross-
ownership restrictions. These pieces of legislation are a needed
first step in ensuring that the airwaves owned by the people are used
to help the people, not just the corporations that use them to
broadcast.

Sincerely,
(We'll add your name and address here.)

* note: A few of our strongest allies in Congress have asked us to
send emails to them instead of faxes. This makes it easier for them
to contact you about their position on the issue. We agree that we
should help our friends in this way, and therefore we send emails
instead of faxes to these special members of Congress.
