Speak out against the Defense Of Marriage Act Constitutional Amendment,
H3190, a proposed amendment to the Massachusetts state constitution that
seeks to define marriage (or any marriage-like union) as between one man
and one woman. H3190 is the most harmful ballot initiative that
reactionary anti-gay groups have ever sponsored in any state in the Union.
Same-sex couples currently have no legal recognition in Massachusetts, and
this changes the constitution to prevent this from happening forever. See
more about the amendment at http://www.ftmmass.org/doma.again.php .
We are offering several ways that you can help:
1. Write to your elected officials. You can do this online at the site
above, or at http://www.mglpc.org/leg.php .
2. We will have a table in the Student Center (or outside on the steps) on
Monday, where you can sign our letter to Senate President Robert Travaglini
and Represenative Paul C. Demakis, of MIT's district. Please stop by and
add your signature.
3. As promised, there will be a wedding as a rally to bring attention to
H3190.
Monday, May 12, noon
You are cordially invited to a same-sex wedding
Student Center Steps
We will stage a wedding, followed by a reception with wedding cake!! Be
there.
4. We could use some volunteers on Monday to staff the table and to make
sure our wedding comes off wonderfully.
Keep hate out of the constitution. Thank you for your support.
