Subject:
Let us show support for the state of Israel and our outrage at killing of
International Human rights activists by Israeli Army, covering up the crime
and expelling all human rights activists from the territories!
Demonstration time and location:
May 8, Thursday from 4.00p.m. to 6.30 at 20 Park Plaza (Israeli Consulate).
All freedom loving people of all religions, races etc... are welcome to
participate.
Examples of signs:
"Stop the cover up!
Who killed Rachel Corrie?
Who shot Brian Avery?
Who shot Tom Hurndrall?
Bring those responsible to justice!"
"Members of International Solidarity Movement
were killed and injured by IDF.
Now IDF expels ISM from the territories.
Were is the logic?"
Dear friends,
As many of you may already know three international human rights activists
working in the West Bank and the Gaza strip were killed and injured by the
Israeli army. Rachel Corrie (24 years old, Seattle) was crashed to death by a
bulldozer. Brian Avery(21, New Mexico) was shot in the face while standing
still with raised hands and wearing fluorescent red vest. Tom Hurndall (24,
England) was shot in the head by a sniper in Gaza strip and is currently brain
dead (Please see the attachments and the following links:
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=288495&sw=Rachel+Corrie
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=281098&sw=Brian+Avery
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/pages/ShArt.jhtml?itemNo=289363&sw=Tom+Hurndall
)
What did Israeli army choose to do?
To ignore and cover it up!!!
Death of Rachel Corrie was declared "an unfortunate accident" although
witnesses claimed that the bulldozer driver could clearly see Rachel.
Tom was shot by a sniper in the head while trying to bring a small Palestinian
girl to safety (please read witness account in the attachment)
IDF response to the shooting of Tom (abridged):
"an IDF position identified a man of about 20 in camouflage uniform holding a
weapon. The armed man opened fire, under cover of the building from which he
had come out, at the nearby IDF position. IDF personnel fired a single bullet
toward the armed man and identified a hit. It must be noted, said the IDF
statement, that this was the only shooting incident known to the IDF in that
area at that time."
Not only IDF decided to lie outrageously, but also decided to EXPEL all human
rights activists from the occupied territories!
We , American, Israeli and Russian Jewish student community, who either has
been
silently disappointed with killings in the West Bank or supporting all the
policies of IDF have to show our outrage!
It is time to AWAKEN!
We can no longer drink our morning coffee, hear that Palestinian
children were shot last night and think... well... Israel has a right to self
defense. Because as the horrible shootings and killing of Rachel, Brian and
Tom showed - many Palestinians are being shot at for no reason.
We can no longer listen to the radio while driving to work and turn it
off because we are tired of what we hear. We can no longer think that
politics is a dirty business and stay silent, because people are dying!
We can no longer sit in our warm American homes with friends and
family at a shabbath dinner and claim that all those criticizing Israel are
anti-semites, because many Jewish Israeli are much more critical than we are;
because we ve never been to West Bank or Gaza and most of us have never seen
Palestinians.
We can no longer ignore the tragedy of Palestinian and Israeli people.
Because after we will have taught our small children about kindness and
humanity, after we will have shown them Wajda's "Korczak" and Spielberg's
"Schindler's List", they will grow up and eventually, at one Passover seder,
we
will hear a question from the "innocent child: "But why were not we doing
something to help?" And what are we going to answer?
We can no longer be silent, because we could have been born in Gaza
strip, and God forbid, it could have been our children who are being killed
this very moment. And, God forbid, it could have been our children who die
in Israeli buses from Palestinian extremist's bombs. But killing Palestinian
children, men and women is not going to bring peace to Israelis and
Palestinians! This is a crime no better than suicide bombing.
Take a stand!
We were lucky enough to be born in a peaceful and wealthy country. Do not
close your eyes to the crimes around you. Every single one of us has a power
to influence and to help!
Let us stand together with Israeli left and show support for the state of
Israel and our outrage at killing of International Human rights activists,
covering up the crime and expelling all human rights activists from the
territories!
Please Note: there are two entrances to 20 Park Plaza hotel. We are going to
meet at the entrance across Haddasah way.
Directions: Take the train to 'Arlington' station, walk on Boylston street
towards Downtown/Four seasons Hotel. Take first right onto Hadassah way - and
you will see 20 Park Plaza.
Background signs:
"We are Jews. We love Israel.
But
Stop killing Palestinians.
End the occupation.
Dismantle the settlements."
"Palestinian extremists:
Stop suicide bombings!
Suicide bombings kill innocent people.
Suicide bombings are a war crime.
Suicide bombings harm Palestinian cause."
For those of you who would like to donate please bring checks as we will be
collecting donations for Israeli 'Magen Dovid' and Palestinian red
crescent society - to be divided equally and sent to Israel and
West bank/Gaza.
You are more than welcome to bring your own signs. However, we, as
organizers,
are responsible for the demonstration. Therefore, we respectfully ask
everybody who would like to bring their own signs to inform BOTH organizers
about the content of your signs by email:
