Filmed over a four-month period (October, 2001 to February, 2002), this
video is a unique exploration of several aspects of the Muslim experience
at MIT. Although it was filmed in direct response to the events of
September 11, 2001, this video is much more than a simple chronicling of a
difficult situation. Instead, it follows a tradition set by MIT's
acclaimed, "It's Intuitively Obvious" series, which, under the tutelage of
Dr. Clarence Williams and the MIT President's office, has explored issues
of race, ethnicity, and culture by giving members of particular communities
an opportunity to speak for and about themselves.
A joint project of the CCRR and several Muslim student organizations and
concerned individuals from all backgrounds, this video answers some
questions and, in keeping with the highest standards of a world-class
academic environment, it leaves the viewers ready to explore even deeper
questions of the race, ethnicity, culture and community.
Please join us for this video presentation and for the discussion that will
follow.
This Video is a joint project of the Committee on Campus Race Relations,
the MIT Muslim Student Association, the Pakistani Students at MIT, the
Persian Students Association, and the Arab Students Association
