In hope, Aimee Friends, Help protect immigrants by monitoring. The New England Immigrant & Detainee Response Network is (among other things) conducting a program to place human rights monitors outside the JFK Federal Building during the INS (now Homeland Security) "Special Registration" in an effort to help immigrants who may be detained. We need the help of every supporter of human rights and civil liberties. If you can help monitor, please let me know (smcooper@attbi.com). We'll "train" you (it's very simple) on the spot. We need folks as follows: Thurs 4/17 -- any significant blocks of time between 10:30 and 4:00 p.m. (these "3rd shifts" are not at all labor-intensive, and are ideal for anyone with studying to do or a good book to read who doesn't mind the occasional interruption of having to retrieve a numbered card) Fri 4/18 -- 6:30-8:30 AM; 8:30-10:30 AM; 10:30 on Mon 4/21 -- 6:30-8:30 AM; 8:30-10:30 AM; 10:30 on Tues 4/22 -- 6:30-8:30 AM; 8:30-10:30 AM; 10:30 on Weds 4/23 -- 6:30-8:30 AM; 8:30-10:30 AM; 10:30 on Thurs 4/24 -- 6:30-8:30 AM; 8:30-10:30 AM Fri 4/25 -- 6:30-8:30 AM; 8:30-10:30 AM; 10:30 on This is important work, and it bothers the Homeland Security folks that U.S. citizens are showing their solidarity around the country by engaging in this activity. That alone should be reason enough to spur you to action. We can't let the enemies of civil liberties and human rights get away with their dismantling program without a fight, even this small one. Please, let me hear from you. In solidarity, Scott Cooper (smcooper@attbi.com) this email was bcc'd to the following: peace-announce, greens-announce, aclu, pugwash, anti-hate, paw-ac
