We women and people of color will *not* be pushed back! We demand civil rights and we demand justice! (And when the domestic MIT population is as racially diverse as the US military, particularly the lower ranks, THEN we can start thinking about not needing affirmative action programs!) In hope, Aimee this mssg was bcc'd to the following: peace-announce, greens-announce, paw-ac, peace-women ------- Forwarded Message Date: Fri, 21 Mar 2003 10:04:55 -0500 To: kvc@mit.edu From: Kasetta Vanese Coleman <kvc@MIT.EDU> Subject: Last Day: D.C. Trip for Affirmative Action April 1st Civil Rights March on Washington: After today, I will give spots to the B.C., Northeastern, and Harvard students who've been contacting me to come on the 3 MIT buses. I wanted the buses filled by MIT but if that's not the case, all the seats will be filled by any college students in the area seriously interested in this march. So let me know if you want a seat by sending the info requested on the web link below. Also please make sure your name's on the list. http://web.mit.edu/bsu/www thanks Kasetta kvc@mit.edu - ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------- MIT needs to roll 150 deep on April 1st. This is a real opportunity for outside-of-the-classroom education. One day to march and rally with thousands of college students from all over the country. It will be one of the most historic days in U.S. history no matter what the supreme court decision. Some of you haven't realized it yet, but this is clearly a civil rights movement that our generation is leading. And, this is just one day compared to the semesters and years that the students in SNCC chose to host sit-in's, boycotts, and help register people to vote in the south in the '60s. Sleep during Spring Break. But don't sleep on this opportunity.
