global peace vigil

the closest location for mit students would be:
Weeks Footbridge
Charles River, foot of DeWolfe Street
Cambridge, MA
This location was used as a vigil site on 9/11/02. It's peaceful and comforting to be able to stand on the bridge or along the banks of the Charles. Please bring your own candles or flashlights. If you play an instrument and would care to bring it along to play for the group, please do.

SUNDAY EVENING, MARCH 16th, 7-9 PM, EMERSON 105
(PLEASE NOTE ROOM CHANGE FROM HARVARD HALL 201)
* Has a persuasive case been made in favor of a war on Iraq?
* Should the U.S. go to war on Iraq without the support of the U.N. Security Council?
* Are there viable alternatives to war?
* What will be the consequences of a war on Iraq: for citizens of Iraq, for citizens of the United States, for the international community?
* Does the current rise of anti-war sentiment across the globe represent a new "movement" for peace?
* What do anti-war activists have in common? What are their differences?
* What is the role of religion in the present conflict?
* What is the role of art and literature in protest?
* Is morality possible in times of crisis?
* Is dissent "un-American"?
* Do you support the Administration of George W. Bush?
Brian Palmer, John Stauffer, Jorie Graham, Peter Sacks, Sayres Rudy, Tim McCarthy, John McMillian, Brad Epps, and other Harvard teachers will come together with students to discuss these important matters of war and peace.
peace.
