Visit the International Women's Day booth!

Fri, March 7 9am-4pm
Thankfully, we have moved inside to lobby 10

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
"War against women, abroad and at home."

The MIT Social Justice Cooperative, the MIT Greens, and the Palestine
Awareness
Committee are holding an event against war and against violence against women
for this year's International Women's Day. International women's day is on
March 8, but we will mark the day with a table on the student center steps
Friday, March 7 from 9am-4pm raising money for rape-crisis centers in Iraq,
Palestine and here at home in Boston.

Occupying military forces are well-known for carrying out all
manner of atrocities on civilian populations, and women get affected by this
reality in certain targeted ways as the world first began to recognize
in the cases of "comfort women" during WWII and extensive use of rape in the
Bosnia-Herzegovina conflict. What is less publicized, is the well documented
abuses of our own military abroad and the Israeli Defense Forces which the
US govt heavily funds and arms. What people also often forget is that women
here in the US are much more in danger of harm from men at home than from Al
Queda.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you would like to particiapte, there are several ways:

-making artwork for the table

-preparing literature for the table
        fliers
documentation for binders kept at the table
finding links and info resources, quotes, book titles, etc.

-staffing the booth

-if your group would like to co-sponsor, let us know

email <peace-request> if you can work on any of these
