Dear all,

As you may know, the issue of Affirmative Action is being decided in the=20
Supreme Court on April 1st. The Black Students Union, American Indian=20
Science and Engineering Society, Black Women's Alliance, Society of=20
Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE),
Society of Mexican-American Engineers and Scientist (MAES), and La Uni=F3n=
=20
Chicana por Atzl=E1n (LUChA) will be going to Washington D.C. to march. We=
=20
will also be having a march in the Boston/Cambridge area to promote=20
awareness for the MIT community and those of other colleges and=20
universities next Tuesday.

I am writing to you all because I feel that this is very closely tied with=
=20
the promotion of women's education and rights, and social and political=20
activism, especially with the possibility of war with Iraq.

I hope that you will look into this issue and that we can help each other=20
in our goals which may seem so different, but really are all too similar.

For information on the march for Affirmative Action, please visit=20
http://www.ueaa.net/march.htm . Please also see http://web.mit.edu/bsu/www/=
=20
for updates about the march and to join us on the march.

Peace,
Alia
