We are sending you this e-mail to ask for your assistance
calling in to Bridgewater State College Monday morning
2/3/03 to defend ANSWER student leader Seth Price.
Those able to go to Bridgewater State College to support
Seth at the 3pm hearing tomorrow, please email
ANSWERBoston@iacboston.org -- car pooling from Boston is

Seth Price, a student ANSWER activist at Bridgewater State
College has been charged with "disorderly conduct" and is
facing disciplinary action up to expulsion following his
participation in a direct action this past Decmeber. Seth
was part of a group that attended a Board of Trustees
meeting to present The CEO of Shaws, a member of the board,
with the "#1 Food Polluter in New England" award. Shaws is
heavily involved in the sale of gentically engineered foods,
and is unfair to labor.
You can learn more about the action, which was sponsored by
Greenpeace, at the link below:
http://www.truefoodnow.org/inside_scoop/tf-shaws_action.html
On Monday, Feb 3 Seth will face a preliminary judicial
hearing at 3:00 pm.
*** We are asking that everyone CALL Jessica Taylor at
508-531-1277 MONDAY MORNING, PRIOR TO THE 3PM HEARING, to
demand that the charge be dropped. We see this as nothing
more than a politically motivated attack on the right of
students to protest and dissent.
***
Seth has been very active on the Bridgwater State campus
organizing forums against the war on Iraq, defending Mumia,
and defending Palestine and Cuba. He has actively supported
the teachers union in their actions against the college and
has a column in the campus newspaper. It should be clear to
all that the university administration is trying to
intimidate and silence dissent on the campus. In fact, the
university official who has brought these charges and is
pushing for his expulsion is the very same individual who
tried to prevent Seth from distributing pro-union
literature.
This is an attack on the anti-war movement and must be
ANSWERed as such. We cannot and will not allow any
college, state or government agency to deny us the right to
organize and oppose the brutal, racist, pro-war policies of
the Bush administration. In the labor movement there is a
saying: "an injury to one is an injury to all!" We will
defend our activist leaders. The Bridgewater State College
administration must understand that we will not stand idly
by and allow student leaders to be intimidated and silenced.
Let your voice be heard today.
