ABERCROMBIE: THE ALL WHITE MEAT
Protest Abercrombie and Fitch today (Saturday) at noon in front of their
store at Faneuil Hall for their chronic use of racism and sexism in their
marketing and in their products.
After producing and distributing a line of racist t-shirts (A&F calls them
the "Asian line of t-shirts")last year, Abercrombie continues to employ racist
tactics in their advertising. This Christmas they produced a catalog which
contains 70 some pictures of naked white folks. When asked about the
monolithic representation of Caucasians, an A&F spokesperson said the catalog
was designed to appeal to their "target audience, college-aged consumers."
Also, in the winter catalog (entitled "Sex and X-Mas Fun"), there is a
prominent interview with the founder of Hustler magazine, Larry Flynt. The
catalog highlights a quote of Flynt - Flynt says, "If you go back over the
last 30 years and you look at all of those feminist movements, just once I'd
like to see someone pretty. For the most part they're all fat hogs."
Come join us today as we voice our outrage at the racism and sexism of
Abercrombie and Fitch, and demand they change their offensive marketing
tactics and derogatory products. A&F, Faneuil Hall, 12:00pm.
