Help WBUR (a public radio station in Boston).
(Actually, as this email makes clear, the problem is that
public radio is not public enough, and depends too much on
large corporate / rich bastard contributors, but maybe there
is still something to be done about it.)

Jewish Women's Group Objects to Boycott by WBUR Sponsors
outside Wordsworth Bookstore

Over the past year, WBUR, a public radio station in Boston, has lost
up to two million dollars in underwriting as a result of a sponsorship
boycott initiated by CAMERA (Committee for Accuracy in Middle East
Reporting in America), a pressure group in which Wordsworth owner
Hillel Stavis is an active member.They claim that WBUR's coverage of
the Middle East is biased against Israel. By depriving public radio of
resources, they threaten WBUR's ability to provide its listeners with
the chance to hear voices critical of Israeli government policy.
The loss of funding to WBUR threatens programming and increases media
self-censorship.As a result, Jewish Women for Justice in
Israel/Palestine, together with other allies, is campaigning to
encourage sponsors to reconsider the withdrawal of their support for
WBUR and to let WBUR know weappreciate hearing a full range of
viewpoints. To understand such a complex situation, listeners need
access to varied sources of information.
The campaign will take place the week of December 9 through December
15 outside of Wordsworth Bookstore, 30 Brattle Street in Harvard
Square, Cambridge.Spokespeople will be available outside of the store
on Monday December 9th and Wednesday December 11th from 12-1:30 PM and
from 5:30 - 7 PM to talk with reporters.Interviews with the sponsoring
organization may also be set up by phoning the contacts above.
The participating individuals and members of concerned organizations
will be leafleting the public to inform them of this threat to WBUR's
ability to continue fair reporting
on the Middle East.
