So we have a plan. Anyone from MIT want to meet up early next week, make
some signs & flyers and a plan to rally our fellow students? Momentum has
been growing, let's everyone put in a few hours and get some more new faces
out! Unlike Nov. 3rd, Dec. 10 is a weekday and we have a regional plan here
to march right through Downtown Crossing at quittin' time... let's make it
a big one and it will be hard to ignore!!!
Though I'd be happy to work with some folks on press releases just to be
sure...

>HEY EVERYONE, THIS IS A MAJOR CALL TO ACTION. WE NEED EVERYONE'S SUPPORT.
>
>As you probaly already know, DEC 10th --as Human Rights Day-- has been
>chosen as the next day of national action against the impending war in
>Iraq. This is right at the end of the semester for most area campuses,
and
>i know that we are all busy, but this is a very important time. If there
>is any truth in the rumor that Bush plans to start the bombing in january
>when many of us are still gone for winter break, then this is our last
>chance to make our voice heard as a coalition of boston campuses before a
>long break. so this is what we have proposed:
>
>at 5:30, UJP is holding its weekly vigil at Copley Square.
>
>4:00 - We (meaning any body who is opposed to a war on a Iraq,
particularly
>focused on college populations) will meet at the JFK building in
Government
>Center. We have tried to coordinatea meeting with senator Kerry, but he
>has yet to return any calls.
> What actually happens here as far as speakers are concerned is still
>open for suggestions. unless anyone knows of a sound system that would be
>available, we will be limited to bullhorns, ect.
>4:30 - March to Copley Square to meet up with people assembling there
> The specific route is yet to be determined, but we will pass through
>downtown crossing, and then towards the park st. T-stop on our way to
>Copley.
>5:30 - rally with everyone in Copley.
> As it will be dark by this time, we thought it would be a powerful
>visual if we were all carrying flashlights. . . (they serve essentially
the
>same purpose as candles, but are more durable to wind, rain, ect.)
>
>-what to bring:
> flashlights, signs, bullhorns, noise makers, a strong voice, and some
>intense energy.
>-does anyone know of someone who might be interested in speaking at the
JFK
>rally before the march?
>-are any other groups planning specific actions at copley?
>
>This is a NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION. We need to have everyone there. it is
>disappointing that the day falls at such a bad time for students, but one
>could look at it as a break from the books. Come for some or part or it.
>Also, there are going to be actions on many individual campuses, so keep
>your ears and eyes open.
>
>if you have questions or comments, you can direct them to the
>bostoncampusantiwar list, to me, or to any other member who has been
>attending regular meetings.
>
>***PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY***
>***NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF "WORD OF MOUTH" ***
>
>---------------------------------------------------
>We also brainstormed on what to do the first day of increased bombings
>Brandeis has been working on a coordinated walk-out the day after the new
>attack starts.
>UMass Boston in working on a similar direction, accumulating a mass e-mail
>list of those who sign the pledge to walk out. they are also distrubuting
>purple ribbons to show their opposition to the war.
>
>We thought it would be awesome if we could get people on every campus to
>walk out at approximently the same time. Following the lead of specific
>campus groups, a working model seems to consist of a few steps:
>1. get students to sign a pledge stating that they are opposed to a war
>with Iraq, and that they agree to walk out of class at a particular time
>(the proposed unified time is 12:00 or 1:00)
>2. once they sign, they get both a ribbon (possibly white for peace, but
>color is open to variation) and a small card that the student can give to
>their teacher when they leave. this card should have a place for the
>student's name and explain to the teacher why they are leaving
>3. have some sort of meeting place for those that are walking out.
>possibly a rally, possibly a vigil of sorts, this is completely up to the
>individual campus. (this gives students a spefic purpose for walking out
>in addition to a sign of solidarity.)
>
>THANK-YOU SO MUCH,
>EVERYONE FROM THE BOSTON CAMPUS ANTI-WAR COALITION
