WHAT? HARVEST Annual Community Event: MEET, EAT, LEARN, SOCIALIZE,
PARTICIPATE!
SPEAKER: Frances Moore Lappé (author of Diet for a Small Planet, and now
co-author of The Next Diet For a Small Planet). 6:30-7:30.
WHEN? Tuesday October 29, 5pm-9pm (details below)
WHERE? Middle East Restaurant, 472 Mass Avenue, Central Square, Cambridge
WHO? Harvest Co-op Markets-- Your community grocery stores (Cambridge and
Jamaica Plain)
WHY? Sick of shopping corporate? Support your local MEMBER OWNED,
DEMOCRATICALLY RUN organization. Find out what it's all about.
THE EVENT IS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. (See the note below on the cost
for dinner).
** 5:00pm - 8:00pm ** MEET representatives from over 20 community groups who
will be attending and providing information about their organization,
including:
=MASSPIRG, =EarthSave Boston, =National Organizaation for Women (NOW),
=MIT Students for Global Sustainability, =Boston Ecofeminist Action,
=Bankbusters, =Greenpeace, =World Education, =Zipcar, =Oldways Preservation
& Exchange Trust, =EarthWorks, =Cambridge Recycling, =Spontaneous
Celebrations, =Slow Food Boston, =Comfort Crafted Oil Buying Network, =Peace
at Home, =The Greater Boston Food Bank, =Council for Responsible Genetics,
=Citizens for Participation in Political Action (CPPAX)
** Find out about HARVEST COOP MARKETS, a Cooperatively owned organization.
For the past 20 years, harvest has been a leader in areas such as ORGANIC
PRODUCE and FAIR TRADE. Find out how easy it is to become a member and be a
part of the HARVEST experience.
** 5:30pm - 6:30pm ** EAT dinner! Free for Harvest members. ($10 for dinner
for non-members; dinner fee waived if you become a member that evening)
** 6:30pm - 7:30pm ** LEARN. Hear Frances Moore Lappé (author of Diet for a
Small Planet, and now co-author of The Next Diet For a Small Planet).
** 7:30pm - 8:00pm ** SOCIALIZE. Continue to learn about community groups,
and mingle.
** 8:00pm - 9:30pm ** PARTICIPATE. The annual membership meeting is open
only to members (including any new members). Hear from Ed Barsamian, the new
General Manager! Hear the Board of Directors Report. Meet the Board
candidates, Q&A.
