Perspectives on the Occupation:
A Community Dialogue on the Crisis in Israel/Palestine

Northeastern University Law School Auditorium (Rm. 97)
Sunday, October 20
6:30pm to 9pm

The Boston Independent Media Center invites you to a community forum
addressing the consequences of both Israeli military action in the
Palestinian territories, as well as the current Intifada, and to
strategize on ways we can contribute to a just and peaceful
resolution.

Featuring dramatic footage shot by Kevin Skvorak, a video journalist
with the NYC Independent Media Center, who gained access to Jenin
refugee camp following the IDF's incursions into West Bank towns and
villages last summer, days before the IDF allowed any outside
observers to enter. Skvorak will be on hand to present the film.

(Be advised: some of the material presented is extremely graphic and
is not suitable for children)

Also, a panel of Boston residents who have lived in, traveled to, and
experienced the consequences of everyday life in both Israel and
Palestinian-administered areas, will debate the impact of the current
Israeli occupation on local people. There will be time for broader
discussion as well.

We hope to bring to this event many different perspectives and come to
an understanding of each other's viewpoints.

United States foreign policy is of great importance to all sides in
this conflict, and Boston's voice is integral to that policy; rather
than allowing our views to be represented by the media, which present
a distorted and wholly unsatisfying picture of events, we wish to
actively frame the dialogue as a community ourselves.

Boston IMC is committed to challenging the corporate media's attempts
to shape public opinion, especially on urgent questions such as these
which affect how our government acts towards our neighbors in the
world. Informed consent is fundamental to any democracy, and we
encourage everyone allied with us in this goal to participate in the
discussion on Sunday.
