James Wolfensohn, president of the World Bank will be speaking at MIT's
commencement ceremony on Friday, 7. June. Concerned students about World
Bank policies on the developing world have worked with President Vest's
office and the World Bank to organize a conversation between Mr.
Wolfensohn and 20 MIT registered students. The conversation will occur
on graduation day, with the time still to be confirmed (most likely, prior
to the start of commencement exercises).
The 20 participants will be chosen by lottery, in order to give every
student a fair chance. We would like to get a spectrum of students that
represent the diversity of the campus. We therefore ask you to please
inform the members of your student organization to submit her/his name if
s/he is interested in issues related to poverty and development.
In order to submit your name to the lottery, please send an email to
nowb@mit.edu indicating that you would like to put your name in for the
lottery. The deadline is Thursday, 23. May at 11:59 p.m. The next day,
Rima Arnaut, the chairwoman of the Tech will draw the names.
Sincerely,
Students for a Democratic Commencement
