Israeli "refusenik" soldier to speak at Brandeis- Wednesday, April 24th
More than 400 members of the Israeli Defense Forces are refusing to serve
for duty in the Gaza Strip and West Bank because they believe human rights
are being violated in the region. Guy Grossman, a member of an elite
paratrooper unit and one of the founders of Ometz Le'Sarev -- The Courage
to Refuse, will speak at Brandeis this week. He'll discuss the ethics and
politics of the refusal movement, his own experience as an Israeli solder,
and the reasons why he continues to oppose occupation beyond the 1967
borders.
The lecture will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24 at the Usdan
Student Center, lower lobby, located on the Brandeis University campus in
Waltham, Mass. Admission is free. For more information, call (781) 736-3570
or (781) 736-3581.
Sponsored by the Hillel Center; Program in Peace and Conflict Studies; and
